ASA believes it is the right of every child to have access to quality swimming and water safety education that includes skills such as general swimming techniques, water acclimation, treading water, survival strategies, and floating skills. In order to prevent drowning, every American child must have basic swimming and water safety skills and knowledge of how to be safe when they are in, on, or around water.
We also believe a large percentage of children will leave primary school this year without the swimming and water safety skills they will need to be safe around water.
This is why we offer year-round quality swimming instruction and water safety education to ensure the acquisition of sufficient water safety skills as a means to prevent drowning deaths...as well as a way to have fun safely in the Land of 10,000 Lakes! We have all this water around us...we all deserve the necessary skills to enjoy it safely.
